At MusicTeachers, you have several options for selecting the best lesson product based on your needs. While your teacher may assist you in making this choice, here are some tips to help you find the right option.
Define Your Goals
Consider what you hope to achieve with your lessons. Many students start with either a single lesson or a trial lesson, depending on the teacher’s preference, before moving on to a larger block of lessons or Lesson Offers.
Ask yourself:
- Are you planning to take lessons for more than a year, or is there a shorter timeframe to reach your goal?
- Do you need flexibility with the lesson dates?
Who books lessons?
Across all our products, they share that it is the teacher who books lessons into the calendar.
Available Lesson Options
Here are the options you have when purchasing your first lesson: -
Trial Lesson - First lesson only
Lesson Offers - Pre-scheduled lessons
Single Lessons - Individual lessons
Blocks of Lessons - Packages of lessons (5, 10, 20, or 40 lessons)
Trial Lesson
Summary: The trial lesson is part of the Lesson Offer product and can only be used for your very first lesson. Some teachers offer a free or reduced price trial lesson, others will charge the full lesson fee. We would suggest you clarify this with your teacher if this is not clear on their profile.
Your teacher can personalise the price and cancellation terms to suit your needs.
Lesson Offers
Summary: This consists of one or more lessons booked with set dates, tailored to meet your needs. Price, lesson length, number of lessons, are set individually for each offer and do not follow the Lesson Block structure.
Lesson Offers allow you to agree on the exact number of lessons you need. You can also pay in three monthly instalments if the total cost exceeds £100.00.
Important Information: There is a 14-day cooling-off period starting from the date of purchase or the date of the first lesson, whichever comes first. Review your teacher’s terms and cancellation policy within the offer to understand your options after the cooling-off period ends. If you pay in instalments, an additional service charge applies.
Single Lesson
Summary: Single lessons are the most expensive option available and are primarily intended as initial lessons to meet the teacher. They are not recommended for regular purchases.
They provide a great opportunity to meet your teacher and determine if you want to continue lessons without committing to a larger purchase.
Important Information: Lessons must be cancelled at least 24 hours before they take place. Read about our cancellation policy.
Blocks of Lessons (5, 10, 20, or 40 lessons)
Summary: Blocks of lessons can be purchased as lesson credits, which remain in your student account until the teacher schedules them on the calendar.
The larger the block, the lower the price per lesson. Payments can be made in instalments, depending on the block size.
Important Information: Blocks of lessons expire after 12 months. Lessons must be cancelled at least 24 hours before they take place. Read about our cancellation policy.
Payment Information for Instalments
When paying for lessons in instalments, be aware that payments are collected monthly, regardless of how many lessons you have used.
Payment schedules are determined at the time of purchase and are independent of when lessons are actually booked or taken. For instance:
Installments are charged based on the agreed schedule and not the number of lessons completed or scheduled at any given time.
The final installment, as per the payment plan, will be charged on its designated date. After this payment, no further installments will be due for that purchase.
The instalment schedule is as follows: - the first payment is taken at the time of purchase with subsequent payments being taken on the 1st of each month until the total is paid in full.
If a block of lessons is purchased on or after the 21st of a month, the second installment payment is deferred to the 1st of the following month after next. For example, a purchase made on the 21st of February would defer the second installment to April 1 instead of March 1.
