How are lesson refunds processed, and how long do they take?
Understanding how to process refunds and set expectations for their completion is important for both teachers and students. Below, we provide detailed guidance on refund procedures and timelines for instructors at MusicTeachers.co.uk.
Understanding Refund Requests
Refunds are managed differently depending on their type. Here is a breakdown:
Monetary (Cash) Refunds: To process a refund that returns money directly to a student, you must contact [email protected] Support to initiate the request. Only Support can handle this type of transaction. It is not possible to issue a monetary refund directly through your teacher portal.
Credit Refunds: In instances where students plan to rebook lessons, you can cancel any scheduled lessons that have been booked from single or block bookings (not Trial lessons or Lesson Offers) and return the corresponding credits to their account directly if done ahead of the lesson time.
Refund Processing Times
Once a monetary refund is initiated and processed:
The funds typically take a few days to return to the student’s payment card. This timeframe can vary depending on the student's bank or payment provider.
Encourage students to monitor their accounts or reach out directly to their bank if the refund does not appear within 2 weeks.
Additional Considerations
Ensure you communicate clearly with students about whether their refund will be issued as a monetary return or as lesson credits.
Any exceptions or unique requests should also be routed through Support to guarantee appropriate handling.
By following these guidelines, both teachers and students can ensure a smooth and transparent refund process.
