At MusicTeachers.co.uk, the teacher controls the schedule of lessons. Here you will learn how to create lessons for your students using the booking systems in the platform.
Required information
Before creating a lesson you will need to know:
Date
Start time
Duration
Instrument or subject
Location
If the above information has not been confirmed with the student, send them a message through the inbox to clarify the lesson details.
Additionally, ensure that the lessons are added to the calendar to maintain their visibility and eligibility for payment processing. If lessons are held at the student’s location, ensure the transport fees are included in the purchase to avoid scheduling conflicts.
What booking systems can I use?
Depending on the way you like to work, we have different products to suit your needs. Read more about Lesson blocks (flexible) and Lesson Offers (fixed) in our help centre. Understanding the products and which ones are best for you will help make lesson booking much easier.
Pre-paid lesson blocks come with specific expiration dates (e.g., 12 months), beyond which they are no longer usable. Always manage the validity periods to avoid unused lessons.
How to book a lesson
You can enter the booking system from many places on the platform. The most commonly used is the conversation view from the inbox. Go to your inbox and click on a student’s name to open your conversation view with them. From here, you can enter the different booking systems on the platform.
Booking a lesson using the Blocks of lessons system
For desktop users, from the left-hand panel, click “Create lessons”
For mobile users, press “Recent actions” near the top of the conversation view, then press “Create lessons”.
"Create lessons" opens up the booking form.
Using the Blocks of lessons booking form
Ensure the student's name, instrument and duration are completed
Plot the date and time in the calendar section or hide the calendar to input the details manually
If necessary, use the toggles to move to a different week
Enter the location and decide if you would like to schedule repeated lessons in the booking system
Check the summary to make sure the dates and locations are correct
For lessons at the student’s home, decide if you would like to add a transport fee
If a transport fee is to be added, ensure the box is ticked and choose the fee from the drop-down list
Check the income summary is correct
Click on 'read more' to view the pricing and purchasing options your students will be shown - this is view only and cannot be amended from this screen
Press "Create Booking" to send the lesson(s) to the student
See our updated guide to the new lesson booking process for more information
Ensure all lessons are added to the calendar for them to be visible and properly processed for payment.
Booking a lesson using Lesson Offers
For desktop users, from the left-hand panel, click on “Make an offer”
For smartphone users, press “Recent actions” near the top of the conversation view, then press “Make an offer”
“Make an offer” opens up the booking form
If this is a first lesson, you can use the "Offer a trial lesson" button from within the message in your inbox. This will allow you to create a £0.00 lesson if you wish to do so. Please note, you can only create 1 'first lesson' per student. Once a lesson has been created, you will be unable to use the Trial Lesson option.
Using the Lesson Offers booking form
Click “Ongoing tuition”
The student’s name will be pre-selected
Enter the instrument or subject
Enter the location
Schedule the lesson
Enter the price the student will pay (you’re shown your fee too) - over type the default amount to create a personalised price for your student
Choose if you’d like to add a deadline to your Lesson Offer
Enter the terms which match how you would like to work
Add a title to your Lesson Offer
Add any additional information you would like to in the description
Lastly, press “Send Offer” to send it to the student, or “Save draft” to continue working on it later
Before scheduling lessons to be held at your student's home, check you have included the cost of transport to your Offer price. It is not possible to add this later once the Offer/Trial lesson has been confirmed and purchased.
If you are using the Offer a trial lesson button:
The student's name is pre-filled
Enter the instrument or subject
Select the location (online is also an option here)
Enter the required student price (£0.00 upwards)
If you like to add a deadline of 5 days to the lesson, check the box. Otherwise, leave the box empty
Where the price of the lesson is not £0.00, select the terms and conditions you require
The Lesson title is pre-filled. You can overwrite this if you wish.
If you wish, add further information in the description about what to bring, parking arrangements etc.
Lastly, press “send offer” to send the Trial Lesson to your student. It will show in your calendar in orange (pending)
You will receive an email notification once the lesson has been confirmed (including payment if necessary). The lesson will turn green (confirmed) and will appear on your invoice

FAQ:
Why are lessons missing from my calendar? Lessons may not appear due to incomplete scheduling, such as failing to add/save them to the calendar or lacking essential purchases like transport fees for location-based sessions. Ensure all required elements are included to prevent issues.
Can I create multiple lessons on one booking?
Yes, it’s possible to create up to 20 lessons on one booking
Can I edit a lesson once it’s in the system?
Yes, editing lessons take place in the calendar menu point of your account
How do I cancel and rebook a lesson?
Read our article on cancelling and rescheduling a lesson for more information.
I have booked a free Trial lesson but it was cancelled. I now need to book another free Trial lesson but the option is no longer available. How can I solve this?
If you need a Trial lesson to be cancelled and rebooked, please contact Support to ask for the original Trial lesson to be removed from the calendar. You will then be able to book the Trial lesson again.
When does a student see my address?
If you are booking lessons to be held at your address, your student will see this information after you book the lesson. If using a lesson Offer, this information will be held within the Offer as the location. If using blocks of lessons, or once the Offer is purchased, your address (location of the lesson) is visible to students on their dashboard in a box titled Future Lessons.
