Welcome to MusicTeachers.co.uk, the platform that aims to connect students with vetted quality music teachers.
Here are some steps with links to further information to help with your journey. If you can't find the answers you are looking for, just send us an email at [email protected] and we will be able to help you further.
1. Find a teacher
Go to https://musicteachers.co.uk/music-lessons and search for your instrument (and location if you want in‑person lessons). You can open teacher profiles and message up to 5 teachers per week, to ask questions. Our guide to finding a teacher will help give you search for the best teacher for you.
2. Message the teacher
Send a short message explaining your level, goals, and availability. You enter this message into the message box which is located towards the top right-hand side of every teacher's profile. There is a minimum character count of 200 characters to ensure you provide sufficient information for the teacher to be able to assess their suitability for you. Not sure what to write to the teacher - take a look at our guide which will provide helpful suggestions.
3. Agree on a trial lesson
Within the inbox, you and the teacher can agree on a date/time for an initial lesson, often referred to as a trial lesson, and the teacher creates the lesson in the calendar. Many teachers will use the Trial Lesson option - either free or paid, and if used, you will receive both an email and see the link to the purchase of the trial lesson on your dashboard.
4. Pay and confirm
You’ll receive an email with a payment link. Once paid, the lesson is confirmed. Payment links are accessed through your student dashboard, either by clicking on the lesson Offer button if a trial lesson is used, or through the blue View and Pay button if lesson blocks are used. Our guide to purchasing lessons will give you more information on this.
5. Take the lesson
At the scheduled time, you join the Online Classroom from your dashboard or the email link if you are taking lessons online, or by attending the venue of the in-person lesson.
After that, you can continue with regular lessons if it feels like a good fit.
If you are taking an online lesson, you will see the green "Go to online classroom" link on your dashboard within the lessons box. Click on this and you will meet your teacher in the classroom. Have a read of our guide to the online classroom - getting started article so you are ready prior to the lesson time. Please note that teachers are not obliged to use the online classroom and may prefer to send you a link to an alternative platform such as zoom, teams or google meet for example. Your teacher will discuss this with you prior to the lesson, and will then send you a link to the appropriate platform. The link to the online classroom will still be visible on your dashboard, which can be ignored if the lesson is to take place elsewhere.
If you have chosen in-person lessons the venue information will be within the lesson box. This is so you are aware of the address if you are travelling to a teacher, or confirming the address you have set if the teacher is to travel to you.
6. What happens next?
You can now arrange future lessons with your teacher. They will explain how you purchase you next lesson/s and the options available to you. Please remember, all lessons must be booked and paid for through our platform to ensure you receive the best support.
If you have any questions you will like answered, you can either email Support at [email protected] or why not use our Ai Agent, Melody who is often able to provide the answers. You can chat with Melody by clicking on the yellow question mark at the bottom right of most web pages.
All the best with your lessons at MusicTeachers.co.uk and please contact us if you have any questions.
