Teacher's guide to completing your profile

For new teachers. A run-through of the process you will follow to complete your profile and be live on MusicTeachers.co.uk

Updated over 4 months ago

Once registered, your next step is to complete all outstanding profile-related tasks before your profile is published live on MusicTeachers.co.uk.

All profile-related tasks can be found on your Teacher dashboard. Think of your dashboard as your dynamic to-do list. You're shown your progress towards being published, and as you complete a task, you move one step closer to going live on the platform.

Please find a breakdown of all profile-related tasks below:

Disclosure Certificate - Upload a valid Disclosure Certificate that meets our requirements. The form of Disclosure a teacher should provide will vary depending on where they are located. To find out more about our requirements, please visit our recruitment process page.

Professional references - Upload the details (name, email, phone number & known capacity) of two people who will act as your professional referees. Current or former employers, students and colleagues accepted. Spousal or family references are not accepted.

Payment Details - Input your bank sort code (XX-XX-XX) and account number (xxxxxxxx) so we can pay you for the lessons you teach on the platform.

ID Check - Verify your Identity with our partner Trust ID. ID verification process information can be found in our ID Verification article.

Experience - You will not be required to fill this in again. Should this box display as 'pending', then a member of the MusicTeachers team will be in touch. Sometimes, the 'pending' status in the Experience section is due to an automated hold in the system. These system-generated holds can occur due to older applications or dashboard updates. If this happens, we recommend reaching out to the support team to resolve the hold and allow your profile to proceed towards publishing.

Declaration - You will not be required to fill this in again. The box displays the declaration agreed during the registration process.

Profile Text - Write your profile text. This is the text prospective students will see when deciding whether to take lessons with you. You can read our guide to a good profile text here.

Profile Photo - Upload your profile photo. For guidance on a suitable image, please visit our profile guide.

Teaching Locations - Toggle the teaching locations to your preference

Price Settings - Set your Teacher fee (take-home pay) for a 60-minute lesson. You will then be shown the total student price, which includes a platform fee.

Musical Subjects - To add or amend any instrument or subject selected during registration, please type your selection in the box displayed. Tip - type a space in the box to view all options.

FAQ’s

What happens when all profile-related tasks are complete?

With all outstanding profile-related tasks marked as complete, the option to self-publish your profile will appear. Click "publish" to set your profile live on MusicTeachers.co.uk.

I have uploaded my Disclosure Certificate to my Teacher dashboard. What do I do now?

Once uploaded, please click the refresh button. The status of your Disclosure Certificate card will change from "Action required" to "Pending". This means it is now awaiting review by a member of the MusicTeachers team. You will be notified via email when your certificate has been approved. Additionally, if your dashboard continues to flag errors or holds after completing all tasks, refreshing the dashboard or reattempting publication from the profile editor may resolve the issue. If the 'Experience section pending' status persists even after uploading your certificate, it could be due to an unresolved system hold. Contact the support team to assist in clearing the status to proceed with the publishing process.
